Roberta Booth studied at the Art Students League and the School of Visual Arts in New York City. She also trained with renowned mentors Alex Brodovich at the Richard Avedon Studio, as well as Art Kane and Bruce Davidson. After a successful career as a high-fashion model with the Ford Agency, Roberta transitioned to the other side of the camera, becoming an internationally recognized photographer. In the 1960s, she opened her own studio in a carriage house on East 69th Street in Manhattan.

Her work has appeared in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Town & Country, and many other publications worldwide. Roberta’s commercial clients have included Revlon, Celanese, The Wool Bureau, Smirnoff, Trivera, and Portuguese Airlines. She is also known for her iconic photographs of cultural figures such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, Erte, The Rolling Stones, and Pink Floyd, which have become prized collectibles.

In the 1970s, Roberta relocated her studio to Milan and London before moving to Los Angeles in 1980. Throughout her career, she has photographed a diverse array of subjects, from desert nudes to the Dalai Lama, as well as film stars including Julie Christie, Demi Moore, Nastassja Kinski, Olivia Newton-John, Dudley Moore, Peter Sellers, Woody Allen, Zero Mostel, and Jon Voight. She also worked as a stills photographer for major motion picture productions.

In 1982, Roberta expanded her creative pursuits into the realm of holography, working with the inventors of this cutting-edge medium involving lasers and high-tech equipment. She received numerous grants and commissions, curated major museum exhibitions, and exhibited her work in galleries and museums worldwide, including the Museum of Science and Industry (Los Angeles), the Powerhouse Museum (Sydney, Australia), the Strong Museum (Boston), the State Museum (Austria), the Royal College of Art (London), and Nottingham College (England). She was also featured in West Coast Artists in Light by Al Razutis and created the holographic Olympic ticket for the Barcelona Games in 1992.

In 1997, Roberta built a dome studio in the Baja California desert near the Sea of Cortez, drawn to the area’s extraordinary light and breathtaking landscapes. There, she continued to explore her fascination with light, color, and form, culminating in the book and DVD Healing Light, which celebrates the beauty of the Baja desert and sea.

Most recently, Roberta has found inspiration in the spiritual light from the KORA Community Center in El Pescadero, BCS, Mexico,  where she has taken ongoing archival photographs of the stunning Enlightenment Stupa which is the heart of this non-profit organization. Her new studio, Studio Otro Mundo, is located near the Stupa in El Pescadero, where she continues her photographic journey and displays her art.
